Archerfield, St George, Kilcowra Station
On the morning of the first day, we meet early for a light breakfast, fresh coffee, and a trip brief/introduction. Then it is off to St George for some refreshments and a chat with some locals while we refuel. After a farewell, we leave St George and continue flying west to a small station which certainly has some big history! Kilcowera Station is a remote piece of property near Innamincka. Everyone will be spending the afternoon with Greg and Toni doing a full station tour and enjoying dinner with the family. We will spend the first night here and sleep in their cottages.
Kilcowera Station, Innamincka, Cooper Pedy
Day 2 starts with a big homemade breakfast before making our way up to the airstrip. We depart west and fly over some stunning green and red contrasting landscapes to the very small town of Innamincka for lunch. Here we have a short private nature discovery tour and a home-style lunch before we take off for the spectacular flight around Kati Thanda–Lake Eyre! This flight is one of the highlights of the trip and we will be providing photos taken by our photographer during this flight. We land in Cooper Pedy around 3:30 PM and enjoy a spectacular tour with sunset wine and cheese. Accommodation is 4-star here with underground rooms!
Cooper Pedy, Uluru
After a short tour of the town and a big breakfast, we are off for the final flight to Uluru! Your afternoon will be spent on a VIP private tour of Kata Tjuta where you will get to watch the sunset on the majestic red centre and spiritual heart of Australia. Afterward, experience the Field of Lights under the stary skies before retiring to your dulux accommodation at Desert Gardens.
Sunrise On The Olgas - Then Home, or continue to Kings Canyon
A special morning – sunrise over Kata Tjuta (Olgas). This is an experience to remember. This private tour is accompanied by coffee and breakfast while the sun breaks, before an extended morning touring the area. We then have a tour of the Cultural Heritage Centre and Uluru town before lunch. Your returning flight to Brisbane, or to your home city will be in the afternoon via a commercial airline.
For those choosing to stay for the longer trip:
This adventure on the ground is a spectacular one in its own right. The contrast of seeing the landscapes from the ground after flying and appreciating the vastness is one that we quite like! The end of day 4 sees us drive North to Kings Canyon where we will have a very special tour and presentation of the area arranged – Arriving around 4 PM for sunset refreshments and walk suited options depending on the desired pace.
Kings Canyon - Alice Springs
This part of Australia deserves longer than just one day, but we see the highlights and get another beautiful experience exploring Watarrka National Park. Not without a well-deserved sleep-in and beautiful breakfast with coffee though. Our final day is spent with our local guide as we make our way Northwest to Alice Springs. Our evening will conclude the trip with an outback fire and drinks while we watch the sunset. Dinner and the night’s accommodation are at The DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton in Alice Springs.
Alice Springs - Back Home
A late breakfast together allows us to reflect on the trip and perhaps exchange contact information. We find that the trips often make some great friends! Our guide will take us to the Alice Springs airport where we will fly back to our home cities.
Note on Uluru
The Uluru Rock will be closed to hikers after the 26th of October. If guests are wanting to climb the rock, they can do it as a substitute of the morning or afternoon tour. Out of respect for the traditional owners, we do not include it in the planned itinerary. We respect those who choose to climb the mountain as a substitute to either activity.
We are very much looking forward to sharing this incredible journey with you.
